Anybody have an idea if this is actually THE item?
Looks alot like something Sox and Martin might have used.

I've seen that truck on eBay before...  Here's the link to the earlier auction that didn't meet the reserve:

Old eBay Auction

Actually, I thought there was a thread about it on here, but I couldn't find it.

There's always a chance that the truck has a Petty origin, but I don't think they had too many red trucks.  You can tell from the interior and engine compartment shots that the truck cab was originally red, and there's no evidence of white or blue anywhere on the interior or exterior of the truck cab itself.

The ad's biggest premise for claiming a history to the Petty organization is the blue inside the bed's tool box.  Like I said, that is possible - but I think the chances are higher that the RAMP BED has a Petty connection moreso than the cab & chassis (if there was ever a connection to begin with).  Making the connection to RP is a stretch, at best -- and without any documentation or photos of it, I woudn't honestly put too much stock in that claim.  To me, it's just a cool, mid/late '60s racecar hauler.  Nothing more.

I've seen pictures before of Petty team haulers, and there was even one recently that showed a team truck pushing the #43 Superbird.  I don't recall seeing any Low Cab Forward haulers in any of the period pictures.

Shakey

Here is the disclaimer:

Long rumored and believed to be a Petty ramp truck

There is an old add that shows Pettys 67' GTX on a hauler going down the road....'The only way you will pass Pettys Plymouth...', or something like that.

Ya know, even if it ISN"T the truck actually used by THE PETTYS, it IS very similar to the type of item used by various factory-sponsored teams.

Doh! Tralier........not hauler!

nitrometal

I would love to get this to haul my Petty 'bird around.  How cool would that be?  :icon_smile_big:
Probably wouldn't be "period correct" though, huh?  Does anybody out there have any photos of their haulers from the 1970 era? I have no clue what they were using then.
I love the smell of nitro in the morning.
