Trim missing above instrument cluster

I was replacing the heater switch in my '68 Charger this afternoon, and I noticed a row of holes that span across the entire underside of the dash.  They are above the instrument cluster,radio, and glovebox.  Is there supposed to be a trim strip installed across the top of the dash, that is missing from my car?  Or, is the same dash used in other B body cars, that might have a trim strip not used on the Charger.

B-bodies with the rectangular guages had a piece of trim all the way across the top of the cluster radio and rh facias. Chargers didn't have this.
