Is there a safe way to remove about 2 layers of paint from plastic?
I just got a '73 Charger and the overflow bottle has old paint on it that I want to remove.

I've had good luck using acetone and immediately wiping with a very wet (with water) rag or rinsing thoroughly in a basin. Try it on a inconspiculous area first.

I used I believe Castrol Super Clean, comes in a purple bottle, to take the paint off my dash bezels.  Maybe someone else can chime in on the Castrol product if they have had good luck with it too.

I used easy off oven cleaner to remove the old interior paint off my hard plastic parts, worked quick and very thorough
