so the first box i got was deffective and i installed the second box and can't get any spark out of it. i jumped the wires and got the spark that way but when i have it hooked up i get nothing.

this is all on a 73 charger with a MP electronic distributor and a blaster 2 coil. i spliced the blue and brown ignition wires like someone told me to but it didn't help. i get voltage while cranking and in the run postion.

i was hoping to get some one who had a third gen to tell me what wires are hooked to what and maybe some pictures.

thanks for any help.

did you try MSD website for install diagrams ?

73chargercali

is it the same diagram as in the instructions? i used the diagram for mopar with electronic distributor and used every wire just like it showed.

Chryco Psycho

if it is connected the way the diagram shows & doesn`t work the bax must be bad
you need to have the heavy red & blk connected to the battery
the green & purple connected to the dist  [electronic dist ]
the orange & blk go to the coil with orange to + ,
the small guage red connects to the Blue & brn factory wires
white is left disconnected

73chargercali

that is exactly how i had it on both boxes since this is the second one.

on the ballast resistor it had the two separet terminals one with the blue and a black jumper cable to the top of the terminal and the other side had a bunch of wires do i need these wires to get it to work or only the blue and brown?

thanks for the help

Chryco Psycho

you should have blue to one end of the ballast & a brown wire to the other end , the brown wire bypassesd th eballast for starting , the other side of a 4 pin ballast will have a jumper from the blue wire & a green on the opposite end

73chargercali

on my 73 charger there is the blue wire and a black jumper wire on the left side and 2 brown wires and a green with red striped wire on the right side. does it matter where i spliced into the brown wire? because i used the brown wire right where it connected to the coil and spliced it with the blue one. heres a pic of the 73's ballast resistor when i get it connected i will fix the horrible wiring.

Chryco Psycho

you need to tie the blue & brown wire fromt he ign switch before the ballast into the red wire for the MSD

^^WHat they said...ALso Do you have a spare coil? Maybe the coil is faulty?
Car's got a lot of pickup. It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
