In various conditions obviously - except scrap/parts cars.

about 19,000 made in 1968 - 10,000 remaining would be reasonable guess? Or not....

Nobody can know but maybe someone has educated guess?

1969/1970?

I would say %20 at the most, and that would make the # just under 4,000 and %20 is a high estimate I believe. and hlpag has had 6,000 of those and %50 of them were GL cars ::)

If you look at how many people own and how many are for sale, I'd say more than what were made. ;D

May be higher than what we think, I would guess 6,000. That would be around 31%. Many HP car where hung on to by there own'ers waitting for the day they could save them. By that I mean the owner is making a living that would support there car hobby.

A lot of the ones which were in scrapyards and thought of as not survived have now been dragged out to be fixed up so theres probably more more on the road than there were a few years back

I agree with john...I say more than you think. Just go to any car show and try to find a "standard" 318 charger, you'll see a '69 500 or a  hemi daytona 1st. A Survivor 318 charger is 100 times more "rare" than a R/T (or clone) with a big block of course an R/T is more desireable.

I'd say with survivors, restored, projects awaiting work and  "rebodied" about 25% of then are still around

Dodge Don

For base cars I'd say 10%, for mid level performance 20% and for the high performance cars I'd say 30%.

Charger RTs tended to survive more than the regular Chargers if they:

1.) Did not have a young "hotrod" owner when it was new or nearly new. (A lot of them were destroyed this way)

2.) Made it through the first GL craze of the early 80s.   (I have heard of a Hemi RT/SE that was demolished this way)

3.) Did not have an owner despirate to make money parting it out on ebay.   (I have seen a few that were cutup for the frame sections)

I have tried to save every 68-70 Charger that has come my way, but sometimes you have to make a judgement call.   I would much rather cut up a 318, one of 30,000 than a 440, one of 100 RT for obvious reasons and some not so obvious (ie. drag car material).   Of my three Charger Rts, one is in good shape (68), one is in stripped down (but not real rusty) shape (70) and one is a "turd" by any standards (69).   (Luckly, last week I managed to buy back the orginal doors for the 70 RT.)   The 69 is even missing the VIN and fender tag (does have partial VIN on frame), yet the DCR has been tracking this car for quite some time due to it being one of only 15 like it registered.   Rarity does have its saving graces.......

industry standard says that 30% of any given year model may still be around in some form or another.and i believe that is the known survial rate.
