NASCAR has finally purchased CASCAR (Canada's version of NASCAR) after a two year courtship.  A plus for all of the stock car racing fans up here in the North despite the fact that there are still no plans for a Nextel Cup race up here, perhaps in the future.  I don't think we'll see a huge change as to what we have now but things will slowly get better.

I worked in this series a few years back as a spotter for the # 1 Canadian Tire Chevrolet driven by Peter Gibbons.

that series is more entertaining to watch on Speed channel than the NNCS sometimes...

do they race on ovals at all, though? Seems like theyre always at a road course.

they do, there's an even balance of ovals vs. road courses up there. (I don't know if they run on dirt though...)

12 race schedule - 8 ovals 4 road courses and no dirt.

that's pretty cool. But I do wonder why I have yet to see a CASCAR oval race on  SPEED.

From Pete McEntagert: "With the exchange rate, the premier race will probably be the Toronto 323."  ;D

the cascar race I watched in Clagary a few years ago was a total Joke the officiating was horrible

My great uncle used to race in this before it was known as Cascar and still known as "Canadian Nascar". There's a picture of his with his car in the '70s when he came in second place.
