I was hoping someone here might have an answer to this.  The round unsilenced aircleaner  that recieved the engine call out pie tin.  These are usually a black wrinkle finish.  I've seen a few chrome and was wondering if the factory ever offered these in chrome or if this is something that was done later buy the owners.  I picked up one this weekend thats chrome and was just curious.  Thanks

I have only seen the black wrinkle paint as well.  The only chrome ones that I am aware of was the lid used on the hemis.

Yeah, there were a couple of those that had chrome.  I can't tell you for sure which ones but I think they were oddball sized.  Not the ones that took a pie plate.  I'm not certain though.

Heres some pics.  What do you think. Original or chromed?

I think that one's been chromed afterwards.  The ones I'm thinking of are from around 1964-ish and I can't find any pics but I'm sure it was like a little dinky one on the 273 four barrel and a great big honking one on the 426 street wedge.

Up until around a year ago, you could buy a new chrome one from Mopar Performance.  I bought one for my 1964 Belvedere from Mancini Racing 4 years ago, and just sold it to a friend earlier this summer.
