I have a B51 power brake code on my data plate and my code book tells me its
for power brakes.
Was this code used for both drum and disc brake cars???
Could you have a Power Drum brake car in a 68-70 B-body?

My friends 69 RoadRunner doesnt even have a brake code on the dataplate??? What is up with that?

Power disc brake cars were coded B41 + B51 (at least on 69's)

Blue Pentastar

Yes you could have power drum or disk brakes.

It depends on the plant. Some plants coded B41 and some did not. Hamtramck coded both.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

The B51 option will be the only brake code appearing on a '70 Charger tag. The only true way to tell if the car came with discs, is to have the broadcast sheet or window sticker.

If you car has it's original components or equalizer/proportioning valve, that could give you clues.. Usually, at least in '70, the valve was different from drums to disc. Also, the booster would be different as well, unless it's a hemi-equipped power brake car, they all recieved the Bendix booster whereas the non-hemi power drum cars usually got the Midland-Ross booster......

Yes, you could have power brakes, in addition to the the disc brakes in a 69.  I've got both in mine and have both the codes on my tag and broadcast sheet.
