Anyone ever installed Air Conditioning into a Charger without it?  Are there under dash kits? or do you have to get the duct work and dash from a donor car?  do you have to use a original system under the hood or does someone make something easier?

Tons of options.  You can get underdash kits from $600 on ebay and beyond.  Most use the very efficient Sanyo compressor which works great but naturally doesn't look stock by any stretch.  Do a search, lots of threads on this already.

After searching on here, I found only two places that make systems. Classic and vintage.  Neither shows a system proven to fit a Charger.  Has anyone on here got a "kit" from one of these? If so, how much did you have to customize and how much help did you get from the companies?  It doesn't seem like either one has any Dodge experience... atleast they don't advertise it.

Anyone done (or seen) a write up on this? maybe in a dodge magazine or a personal website?
I don't know much about AC, so I wouldn't want to go into a project like this blind.
I'd like to know wxactly what parts were needed and instructions about how to do it.

I've got classic auto air on mine, but it was originally factory air... but EVERY part has been replaced with CAA components except the box (which was rebuilt by me) and the evaporator (which was replaced with a new factory style one).  They all work great.  The 'perfect fit' series is made for cars that did NOT come with A/C, though, and I would think performance would be similar (since my entire system was replaced with their stuff...

Here's a series mopar muscle articles that prominently feature CAA

pt 2 - http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/34500/
pt 3 - http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/34597/

Here's a place that (as far as I can tell) resells CAA systems for mopars.  Not very big on details, but there's an underhood shot of a '66 ... http://www.ccclassics.net/mopar.html

here's a discussion where some people were getting kits: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,390.0.html

Anyway, there's lots of info out there, and as I was working on my own system I found the guys at CAA to be EXTREMELY helpful and freindly.

You're right, they don't show a 3rd gen charger 'perfect fit' kit (they do list kits for 1st and 2nd gens, though).  However, you might want to call them and check anyway; They don't list a 3rd gen condenser on their site, but I'm using one :D

Thanks for all the info. For some reason the mopar muscle links don't work though. Do you have to subscribe to get them?

No, they just don't work  ???  They did work when I posted that, though...  And if you use the mopar muscle search for classic auto air, it finds those same three articles, but when you click on those links they're dead too...

Dunno, maybe they just took them down?

classic auto air...      we are installing their "perfect fit kit" into a 1970 Cuda at the shop...        well -  their "perfect fit"  isnt exactly that...     the condenser lines were incorrect....    so they sent another set...    incorrect....       sent another set...     incorrect...      we'll see what shows up tomarrow....
