can overheating result in brake loss?

very freaky if you ask me...
driving at 60mph and have to brake...floored it nothing and then it bites real tight (nothing-everything kinda situation with blocking wheels)
your thoughts?

it's a1969 charger, AT, PB, PS, 383/4bbl

sounds kinda like a busted spring to me in the brake mechanism,,,assuming you have drum brakes in the front

could be a problem inside the master as well
you can lose brakes IF the brake fluid boils at 450+ * but the second push on the pedal will not give you brakes

If I pump the brake pedal it gives some pressure but loosing it after firm push.... so I always have a little pressure left but not a safe feeling.

Have you checked your wheel cylinders for leaks???

or it is bypassing the seals inside the master
