Tire/Wheel Question

My '68 Charger has:

Front: P245/60R15 tires and I measured the wheel width to be ~8.5 to 9 inches.
Rear: P275/60R15 tires and wheel measured to be about 9 inches.

My measurements are not exact as the tires are mounted on the wheels and they are on the car.

I like the widths of these tires and would like to match them to new rims.

How wide are the rims? In the Summit catalog the 15's are 15x8 then 15x10. I assume my front wheels are 15x8. But what are the rears?

Will different width tires fit on the same with rim?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris.  The BFGoodrich website has an excellent reference for tire sizes and recommended wheel widths....depending on how "square" you want the tire to fit on the wheel.  See below....

Also, remember the wheel width is not the overall width (outside lip) that I think you may have measured.  It is the distance between the two edges that the tire will mount.  Good Luck!

Thanks Pete.

Looks like I have 15x8 all the way around.

I am looking at these American Racing Rims:

Will they fit my '68 Charger without any issues?

I'm still a couple months from purchasing the wheels as I want to have an exhaust system installed first.

I am trying to make sure theses wheels will fit my '68 Charger:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ARE%2D7675865&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Dimensions: 15 x 8 (All 4 wheels)
Pattern: 5 x 4.5
Backspacing: 4"

Rear Tire: P275/60R15
Front Tire: P245/60R15

Has anyone used this setup on their second gen. Charger?

Thanks,

Chris
