Does anyone know if its possible to convert a column shift steering column to a floor shift column?  I Have a 70' Charger w/a floor shifter. The column I have has something broken on the inside. I can buy a Column that has a Column shifter on it. My question is can I change the collar out and remove the column shift & replace it w/ the floor shifter collar?  :shruggy:

thanks for any help,

I don't think so... key release system could it be different... floor shifters columns works with a lever what is the collar section itself and spring, and column shifters works with shifter collar section itself on parking... However I don't know if they can be interchangeable

Yes you can convert it, but you will need a column, shifter with all the linkage, consol, and the brackets and lockout linkage. All this stuff is 70 b-body only. Get your wallet out. :icon_smile_cool:  Jay

I think he is asking about just reconvert his actually shifter column on to floor shifter column without need to change the complete column assembly, just the shifter collar with a non shifter/release key lever collar, and then just find the floor shifter and console stuff.

BTW... I think 71/74 columns are the same than 70... another different story is the floor shifter stuff.

My fault....I should have explained myself a little better... :icon_smile_big:

I Have a floor/console shift in my 70' R/T. MY steering column is broken....something inside. I can buy a steering column that has a column shift. My question is:    is it possible to swap column parts to fix my broken one, or should I just wait to find another floor shift column?  :shruggy:

As long as it's just the shaft itself, Yes.(as long as both are power steering columns )  Everything else is different
