first time i see a pulley like this and why is it on this motor?

hey guys

I'm changing the timing chain on my 68 charger r/t. when i pulled the crank pulley off i found that it is two piece. it looks like an add on pulley for air conditioning.  this is the original motor in this car. it never had air conditioning . why would it have this add on pulley? should i put it back on when i reassemble the motor. Rene
