How much would you be willing to pay for a good 69 charger grill

terrible one

It really depends on what you mean by good. Just the plastic, or the metal frame too? I've seen good complete grills go on E-bay for $1k and such. There are a lot of different factors here. I would try to find something off this board.

I did and it was well over a 1000 and still needed some work :rotz:

I know of a guy that restores them and had one for $1500.  It was VERY nice, though.  I have seen GOOD cores for $1000.  That need cleaned and painted and trim polished and such.

I just got lucky and paid $500 for a real nice 68' to have as a spare, but I have seen them go for as much as $1500.00

I am in the process of possibly repoping some of the second gen Charger grilles ( the plastic parts at least for myself first, then.....).  I gave $250 for three busted 69 grilles (that can be used to make two good grilles, with one complete with all the trim and housing).  I recently paid $50 for busted shards of an outside shell of a 70 grille that I can use to fix three other grilles.  The 68 Charger project I just bought had the most mint 68 grille I have ever seen on a field car.  BTW-I have seen a complete 69 Charger grille (mint resto) go for as high as $2000 and sell shortly after........  If you think that is bad, try a 71 Cuda grille......

depends on condition, Ive paid $400 for decent 68 grille about year ago. It has some cracks and paint could use refinishing

The sky is the limit on the price of these things.  All the factors point to contuning escalation in price until some repros come out.

--  People are still putting more old Chargers back together that need them, and the supply of decent used ones isn't growing.
--  The grille is extremely visible so nobody is willing to go without a very good-looking one on their finished car.
--  You can't really home-make it from scratch, and even doing a patch job on a busted one still demands about 95% of an original grille to work with.

And if the reproduction company eventually spends a lot of money to tool-up a repro, but they cut corners somewhere or the they don't bother to make it look & fit perfectly . . . then the price of the used grilles will probably NEVER go down again.
