My friend's headers were leaking so he pulled one off and was greeted by a gush of coolant flowing out. He is wondering if this is normal?

The end bolt holes in small block heads go into the coolant passage.
I converted mine to studs.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.
