What is the DOOR AJAR warning light or stuff ?

I don't get it

It alerts you your door is not closed.

AAAAND... is not enough with the dome light ? or is the switch different to get more sensitive positions ?

I have seen the door ajar with the dome light off. The new cars do that all the time.

then would need a different door jam switch or sensor to drive that ???

Yeah, it seems more senisitive than the dome light and should alert you when your door is not fully latched.
