More info. would be more helpful here. One thing is that you might have mixed your formula wrong. Mixing your product and letting it sit to long before spraying and that does make it turn to glue type product after sitting on the counter for over a perioed of time. What brand did  you use also of material.

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

:iagree:  not   saying  you have , but i  witnessed  a guy years back who painted  a car  and for got to put hardener in the   clear coat . the only option as it would not cure properly with out the hardener ,was to wash it all off with thinners & and start again.

I agree with all of the above. Believe it or not I have also see the same thing happen with too much hardner. Yes it was me. I was distrackted that day when I was mixing the clear. The thing to do is read the lable before you mix the clea and pay attion to what your doing. Nodays with the paints and clears, Its very important to get the right mix. The days of just adding a little of this and a bit of that are long gone. In any case check the mix. I'd be willing to bet the mix was wrong or you waited to long to spray it. By the way did it turn to glue after you sprayed it, or before you put it in the gun? That will help nowor down the problem.

:iagree: that is true also ,   i have almost done that  a couple of times  ,  some times it is easy done to forget to put hardener in the clear  if you are not consentrating  or some one is talking to you. took a chance one time on a on a older model  as i could not remember / new fender - blend the door , baked  it  . it  did harden but was finger printable the next day , that was supposed to have been fast hardener & accelerator. car never came back though.

Ok what it was i had some paint i was going to use on a buddys dune buggy and we sprayed a small panel to see what it would look like .i might have put to much hardner in it .the clear was pretty old i have had in my garage for 5 years i think it might have been the cobination of both.i need to pay more attention to what im mixing and buy more cups .the first car i painted i mixed was and grease remover instead of the reducer needless to say we knew there was a problem when we started spraying it .very stupid and costly mistake.and sucked to remove from the car.

It was more then likley the mix. If the lid on the clear was tite. I doubt that the clear was bad. I have some clear thats neer 8 or 9 years old. (PPG 2020) Never been open. EPA outlawed the makeing of it around 7 years ago. It was a very good clear back then. I used a gallon of it on an employee's truck last winter. Everthing worked out fine. I still have 2 gals left.
