I have a 72 Dodge Charger Ralley Track Pak car with a 440 - 4bbl - 4spd - pistol grip - dana 60 - 354.1 track pak - power front disc - louvered tail lights - simulated door louvers - hide away headlight - ralley dash with tach - front & rear sway bars -  air grabber hood - power tinted windows - dual exhaust w/o tips - wheel moldings.  The car has options that are not listed on the fender tag but are on the build sheet.  VIN# WH23U2A196755.  Car is #27 of 29 in VIn Sequence of all 72 440 4bbl 2 door hard tops at Lynch Road MI plant.  According to Galen Govier, there were 785 - 1972 440-4bbl Charger 2 door hard tops built to spec for USA. 165 4 spds - 620 Automatics.  Before I had Galen Govier decode, I found a Mopar Broadcast Sheet Decoder at www.dodgecharger.net.  I would like to know if anyone knows of any other 72 Charger Ralley Track Paks Built after May 24th, 1972?  Car has been restored any idea of value?  Tried to post picture but can't figure out how......

Mine...  It was built June 2nd.  Click on the link in my sig below for a pic.  It's equipped like yours except I don't have power windows or hideaways.

You have a VERY nice car!  Great seeing more of these... as you stated, they didn't make many! :2thumbs:

I'm sitting here thinking  BEFORE the restoration?  That looks pretty damn good to me!  :icon_smile_big:

Do you have pics after the resto...?  I'd like to see anything you have!

MOPARHOUND!

A friend of mine in the local Kansas City mopar club has a 72 Rallye 440/4speed/Dana Charger.  He owns a body shop and plans on restoring it.

Don't know the build date though.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

My car has a 400 no trac pack so what does that make it its little sister ??? More pictures please

ricksresto

Thanks for all the replies.

The story goes---I purchased this car from a friend who owned it about a year.  He never tagged it - but put a new fuel tank and 16" wheels/tires (pictured).  He bought the car from the 2nd owner who puchased it in 1977 - drove it for about 8 years - moved to Calif. - left the car to sit for 17 yrs +/-. The pictures show what the car looked like when I purchased it in 2003.  I tagged the car and drove it for 2 years - 2000 miles.  Paint was ok - but I wanted it to be real nice!  Interior was ok - headliner was faded - dash was tired looking - seats were decent - door panels are in excellent original condition - but I wanted everything to be in the same condition .  I am now installing new headliner, carpet, recovered seats, restored dash.  The car just came from paint and looks beautiful!  The floors and trunk in the car are in excellent original condition.  No body work was necessary on the entire car.  Motor ran good - but had 99k miles on it (this is the mileage shown on the last emission testing dated 1985)- so I had the motor completely gone thru and is now re-installed.  I will post more pics of engine and floors and interior pics when the car is completely finished.  Hopefully sometime in August.

I was trying to get an idea of how many 72 trak paks are out there and what they are going for.  Any ideas?? ???

Your car is sweeet!   When I purchased my car it was in really good shape.  I posted a little story about.  I am still in the process of restoring - about another month or so.

Wanted to know if the decals on your air grabber are the ones with the bee's on it?

1972Rallye

Yup, the decals are the ones with the Scat Bee.

Regarding how many are left... I know of 10 or so 440 4 speed cars - you don't come across them often.

The value is really a guess.  Since the N96 Ramcharger Hood makes the already scarce cars that much more rare it really helps the value.  If the resto is top-notch and you have numbers matching with correct documentation, I'd say $30,000 - $40,000 depending on where/how you sold it.  There was a guy selling a Hemi Orange car a year or so ago.  He was asking $75,000, but he was on crack... ::)

ricksresto

Thanks!  Just sent you a message regarding production numbers.  Any information would be appreciated.
Got my info in the original posting from Galen but nothing given to me about track paks.

Thanks,
Rick

Correct me if I'm wrong, but....

....isn't there another forum member ("72Rallye440") who has a 4-speed with the N96 hood?  I also thought he stated his was a Trak Pak car as well.  I think Dewey is his name.

Beautiful ride, BTW.

(Dewey if you read this, PM me.  I think I know you from a past life.  Did you own a black '73 with a 318?)

Thanks!  If you find "72Rally440" send him my way. It would be interesting to find out just how many 72 Rallye trak paks are out there still.

ds440

Hey ricksresto, I did a quick search through the forum and found this:
