Hey guys im new to the board so let me start off by saying hi. Second ive been in love with the charger since i was a teen im 26 almost 27 now and im looking to get me a 69 charger and i was wondering how many of you guys drive it everyday cause im gonna drive mine everyday but everywhere i go i hear guys telling me dont drive it everyday the gas is too much.

Hello and welcome, I suppose it depends on what condition it's in, eg a car that is in need of work isn't ideal if you are going to be sitting in traffic every day

The gas is chicken scatch to what it would cost to repair it if it was badly wrecked.

I know of three members here who have been involved in wrecks.

Wakko- lucked out and has mostly suspension damage
Brock Sampson- 71 RR rear ended, but lucked out as it was minor, if he was the first car in the multi car collision it would have been alot worse.
Purple_something ,umm I forget his name but he had a purple 68 with HUGE rear tires and his daily driver 74 RR was totaled.

Not a good idea to drive a Charger as a daily driver. I drive mine almost every weekend and I spend a fortune on gas for just the two days. :Twocents:

BTW  Welcome to the board.

if you want to drive it every day get a solid 318 car thats not too shiny,or a plain colour thats easy to touch up, so you wont be too worried about scratching it and it should be reasonable on fuel
go for it ;D

Classic insurance companies usually only give you 2500 miles a year  although yes,  I suppose there are exceptions, but the intent is to cover cars for occassional pleasure driving,  not commuting.
Normal auto insurance companies won't cover a '69 or anything else for collision anymore so if all you have is liability, you're SOL if something happens.
I wouldn't consider driving mine everyday.  I'm paranoid enuf about the other 'tards on the road as it is.

As much as I love to drive it, our 68 goes out only for shows and an occassional cruise.  As everyone else stated, gas for a big block goes very quickly and get pretty pricey.  Also as stated, you have to watch out for every idiot out there and you almost feel like a target.  It can affect your insurance rates if too many miles are accumulated or if you should be unfortunate enough to have an accident.  If I had my way, I would drive mine everyday, but given all of the negatives, I just have to enjoy the few times I do get it out.  Oh, welcome to the site too!

Be prepared to fix something everyday

Back when I had just got my license I drove a '70 pretty much every day for 11 years. But back then you could get a lot of the replacement parts from Napa or the dealership. Now you have to fight 200 people on Ebay for scraps. I'm sad to say this but I wouldn't hesitate to drive a classic Mustang or Camaro on a daily basis because it's like owning a new car as far as replacement parts. Mopar is coming around but very slowly.
