Ron, he's the pic of all the goodies I got while I was over in Afghanistan.  Jobs around the house first (you married guys know the drill  :yesnod: ) then I get to play...  ;D

Very nice....man are those Proform carbs a work of art or what !  :drool5:

Looking forward to seeing it on the car along with all the other new stuff (converter/gears). Those changes are gonna make a huge difference....better order up some new skins for the back....you'll be needing them.

Duey, you know I bought a Mighty Demon carb for my car and love it to death. I just have to say that I'm always impressed with the Pro Form stuff. Extremely good looking carb, and intake too by the way. Burnies are mandatory when its running. You are also required to send pics of all burnies made.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

That is cool looking, what is that exactly?  cfm,?    how much are they?  I need to buy a carb and manifold for my 440.   thank you

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Dep, yup...how's the Demon working out for you?  Burnies will definitely be on the list of "first things to do" when I get it all put together!  :yesnod:

Seattle, it's a Pro-form 850 cfm Mech double pumper with about as much adjustability as a reasonably sane person could want....I think... :-\   I was looking at three carbs at the end: the Pro-form, a Quik-Fuel 850, both 850 with hi-perf downleg boosters, and a Holley 4150HP 830 cfm with annular boosters.  I feel sort of bad for my T-Quad sitting in pieces, because its awesome spreadbore was great...when it worked.  I got the Pro-form on Ron's reccomendation for a phased build-up I'm doing on my motor.

The Proform was $549 at Summit but the current promotion gives you $20 Summit bucks when you get one.  I know it's a lot, but it will be part of what I expect to be a nice package when it's all done (440, Indy heads, Engle KV-3 split-grind solid cam, the Holley Stree Dom manifold you see, 4.10 SG rears, 3800 10" TA tight converter, etc... )  :icon_smile_big:

Ron, here's a close-up for you.  I suppose I'll have to live without the choke!  ;D

I am showing this pic of my Thermoquad 850 partly to show how awesome yours looks.   :drool5:   I hope this thing works, got it used, 30 bucks.  Sat for a year he said, may or may not need rebuild, planning on buying a street dominator manifold, then if this thing turns out to be not so great, I will buy some nice carb.

What kind of air cleaner are you going to use?  shame to cover up that carb at all.    The fuel line/lines on that carb look awesome.  This Thermoquad doesn't have anything like that, I don't know that much about carbs, can this thing have a fuel line going into it like that sort of?   Is this carb even worth rebuilding?    I am going to have at least a 282 cam in my 440, maybe trick heads later, but for now just a decent engle cam and a big carb and intake, hp exhaust manifolds or headers, balanced and bored engine with forged pistons.   Thank you for any advice.

(that avenger box isn't a carb, its a fishing reel.  :icon_smile_big:)

You and me both brother  :icon_smile_big: Who needs a choke up here in the arctic

Mine has the same main body minus the billet metering blocks and baseplate. :yesnod: Chris (6t9) just installed the 750vac proform center on his car at my urging and is quite happy. Improved vacuum and idle quality and elimination of the dreaded off idle bog....yep they work well on just about any application.  :icon_smile_cool:

Seattle, I'm looking at something like a K&N X-stream (regular filter with the filter top).  Ron slid me a Moroso drop-base assembly which I'll start with before shelling the $125 for the X-stream set-up.  I'm partial to Moroso Gold or Blue anodized filter assemblies so I may just need the lid...not sure why, but I like the look, not to flashy but good performance and look "good for business".  :yesnod:

I'll probably hold on to my TQ for old times sake, but I've rebuilt it twice and still can't find the hairline crack that was emptying the bowls after a few hours...grrrr...nice carb and fairly easy to tune...tension on the secondary air door was about the hardest thing to get right to minimize bog.

Re: the Pro-form...it's the Holley DP config that has duel-feed fuel lines, hence the fuel rail rig vice the TQ's single feed to the bowls.  That would be extra for any Holley double-pumper style carb.  I also think I'll have to get a Loka throttle cable or something because the Hloey config is different than the TQ's setup.  I'm running the MP509 hydraulic cam now (282/292*) but will upgrade most likely to an Engle KV-3 to give better lift "under the curve" and nicer vacuum characteristics...right now I have about 8-10 inches at idle....uuuugh!

One bit at a time, I say...it'll all come around in the end, I'm sure.  The TQ's are nice when they work, but those pesky leaks from the phenolic resin center body are a pain.  God luck on you motor, if you have any questions guys like Ron and Neil will definitely steer you in the right direction, and let you know how to go about a "phased approach" when the budget isn't there for an instant 100-point show car.
