At the last event we attended here last week, my car was one of only a few 60s cars in attendance. The rest were far-newer stuff w/lots of Corvettes, Type R Nissans, etc.  There was a little "hooliganism" going on (a little tire smoke on the front street), but in the time we were there, it wasn't bad (the local cops do their part in all that by hanging in the periphery).   "...and the times they are a change'en"  wasn't that Dillon's song? I was probably a little irresponsible as-well as a younger man, but nothing like what seems to go for "normal" now.

As I mentioned earlier here, this is pretty-early for this type of event here in Colorado. In the coming (warmer!) months this demographic might change a bit. Historically, the older stuff shows up in the early AM, with the modern stuff getting there about when the "old-timers" go home.  That's certainly how it works for me.

"Those who support this behavior aren't true car enthusiasts," the post reads, pointing at those who watch the after-show in the street and saying, "It all starts with you. These are the so-called enthusiasts who have ruined our car gathering."

Sums it up, the type of "enthusiasts" who think "burnouts are fun" have ruined it for everybody.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Kern Dog

If you enjoy your car, you are still an enthusiast. It is just a different type.
I agree that the dipshits that can't drive do make all of us in the hobby look bad. They are enthusiasts, just ones with poor judgement and shitty driving skills.

JB400

More than likely, they'll just congregate somewhere else, and still do the same shenanigans.

Any gathering of modern muscle cars is going to produce a lot of burned rubber and a few wrecks.  It's surprising if it doesn't happen.

its all true  :iagree:

your going to get some / few  guys burning &  laying rubber its the nature of ! anywhere there is a car meet  :yesnod:, is what it is , unfortunately seems gone of the days where, a mini peeling out into traffic flow after a car meet seemed to be mostly the norm & cause no drama or  problems ,
its not enough these days for some we all know what & how much rubber these cars can lay.
your always going to get certain drivers that go to far showing off.  wrecks ive seen where a driver showing off its obvious cant handle rear wheel drive with any kind of power prolly they watched too much youtube or movies or a generation thing  or grew up driving front wheel drive or all .
thanks to social media & i / smart phones & every one videoing every thing each other seems like  everyone from certain generation wants to be a facebook / yourtube sensation so your going to get more & more showing off .

saying pedestrians encourage idiot driving ! HA what a load of crap ,
* if you was driving down the street  in ya charger & a pedestrian held up a sign saying your polluting my world ! go drive  off a cliff would you do it ?? *

its the idiots spoil it for everyone , seems to be far more idiots around these days & because of these people the world has changed as what a blind eye would be turned to.  :yesnod:

IMO the cars these days are part of the problem.

A powerful modern muscle car with hi-po tires . . . it feels like it has full traction right up until it has none.  The cars spool up power & inertia fast and the drivers have no decent sense of where the limits are.  They rapidly get themselves in too deep to save it.

People talk about the shockingly bad instincts of these modern drivers (they may not even let off the gas/brake until they hit something).  But modern cars & roads basically never give them a chance to learn how to drive right.  They almost never get any exposure to losing traction except in the last 2 seconds before they wreck hard.

If people broke a bone every single time they fell down on an ice rink, they would never learn to ice skate.

Burn outs are fun.... But they have their time and place.

This crap has been going on for 75 years guys. It's why by the time I could buy a sweet ride they were making mostly crap and insurance cost more than the car. (1970's)

Kern Dog

Only a worthless impotent dullard would look down on doing a bit of tire smoking for fun.
I don't do it around crowds or next to other cars but if the area is clear, you bet I'm ripping gears and scaring queers... :smilielol:
