These are pics of the Stellamare accident that happened here in the Port of Albany on Dec 9 2003. It was a 289 foot Cargo ship being loaded with 3 GE generators weighing around 300 tons a piece. They believe the ballast was not set right in the ship and it tipped over after the second one I believe was being loaded on. One of the gens ended up at the bottom of the river. The ship was recovered on Jan 4th. A friend of mine brought the gens down on the train to be loaded on the ship the day before. i brought them back to GE after the one was recovered from the Hudson. There was 18 crewmen aboard, I believe 3 died.
