You can get an "around the world" ticket on Cathay Pacific (excellent airline) which allows for up to 16 stops in 30 days anywhere in the world that Cathay Pacific or one of its partners flies for 999 dollars.

And you can ALWAYS find a reasonably-price place to stay and eat...especially in the far east.

Now...in a place like India...I recommend a 4-star hotel.
