I got this off the Battery University web site.  Interesting.

there are two types of sulfation: reversible (or soft sulfation), and permanent (or hard sulfation). If a battery is serviced early, reversible sulfation can often be corrected by applying an overcharge to an already fully charged battery in the form of a regulated current of about 200mA. The battery terminal voltage is allowed to rise to between 2.50 and 2.66V/cell (15 and 16V on a 12V mono block) for about 24 hours. Increasing the battery temperature to 50–60°C (122–140°F) during the corrective service further helps in dissolving the crystals.



From this I would guess that the video method would work but I'd be very nervous doing it. 50 amps seems like a lot!.  None of this would work with a battery that has an internal fault like a broken plate or short.

But this does prompt me to get a "battery minder" for my cars.

Had a battery at our island camp this year, forgot to charge it the past two Springs thanks to Covid and not using the boat it goes in. On an island and needed the steel boat w/25 Honda that only has electric start to pick up a lumber load in town. Battery only had three cells that bubbled when charging and 7 volts. Did my usual... beat the hell out of the battery case, shook the shit out of it and then repeatedly put the OLD STYLE charger on boost until I got a rolling boil going, then shut off. Repeat, beat, repeat beat making sure to let the case cool down each time, then go again. Took a day, but I got all 6 cells back to charging correctly and a 12.8v battery. Used it all Summer and it never let us down. Battery is now 15 years old !! Not a hope in hell I'd hit a battery with a MIG....

I had a strange experience recently that my son said they also had.  I bought an inexpensive 1 amp charger called a noco battery genius.  I put it on an old dead battery that would not take a charge and it appears to have charged.  I will see if it lasts.  My son also said that they at a similar experience with his formula SAE friends and a battery.

No clue whether this actually worked or I am tricking myself, but I thought I would share just in case it actually worked.

 seems a bit iffy to me see picture below    , i would not risk it !
all joking aside , ive done something similar a few times on a drill battery that wont charge , connected to a known good drill battery so it will put enough juice in  flat battery so it will charge ,  
seen a few car battery explousions , the resulting  fumes are  bad too !, i worked with one guy who was griding welds on the front end he just put on & the spark ignited the battery !  was mounted up under a plastic cowel cover , then woosh, yes we all know he should of removed the battery
