I do a lot of buying and selling on ebay. Most of the time everything turns out fine. Every once in a while you come across a real psychopath.   I thought it would be interesting to share a few stories and hear of others experiences.

About a year and a half ago, i win an auction for a set of 72 style hideaway headlight grille. pics are real real dark but they are described as being in excellent condition. I win the auction for about $175, pay another $35 (allegedly actual cost) to have them shipped. thought $35 was a tad high to ship them from PA to GA, but dont make an issue about it. (turns out that shipping was really $18) If they are nice, i will be happy. About 10 days later, UPS delivers them. I pick up the flimsy thin wall  box and hear them clanking around...........not good. open the box..... the grille are thrown inside the box with absolutely no packing material at all. They are damaged. grille surrounds are broken as are the mounting tabs on the inner grille. everything is painted black. I aint feelin too happy right now.... Email the seller and he asks for me to take pics of the damage and send them to him. I comply. He replies "they weren`t like that when i shipped them" , "how do i know you didn`t do it?" ....HUH?... why would i break my own parts?  I email him back and tell him that his insinuation that i broke them was way off base and illogical. I respond and tell him that its quite obvious that the items were broken due to negligent packaging, that at very least he could have bought a sunday paper with the money he overcharged me on shipping and packed them in enough newspaper to prevent them from shifting inside the box. He responds "that is the way that they were shipped to me" " I ship things like that all the time without any problems" and basically tells me that my issue is with UPS and not with him. There is no way i am going to drive 35 miles to the closest UPS depot to have them look at a package like this. Heck, they already have a rep for denying valid claims, no way will they pay for a item so obviously negligently packed.   NEVERMIND..............i am not going to argue with a fool......here is your negative feedback.

Scenario #2  I buy 2 parts cars about 40 miles away. I knew one had 3 flat tires and did bring 3 wheels/tires to put on the vehicle. what i wasnt told was that the vehicle was sitting in two feet of mud. everytime i try to lift it, the floor jack i brought flips over. The friend with me basically has to curse out the guy to get him to let us use one of his mopar bumper jacks and a peice of plywood to sit it on. anyway after
about an hour and a half, we finally get the wheels/tires on it. ask the guy if he has the key for the car and .... of course he doesnt.   The guy doesnt offer the least bit of help. 2nd car is in his gravel driveway with air in the tires and all windows up. I return to get it 10 days later, all the tires are flat and the windows are rolled down, the car has been rained in and the radio is now gone?? I try but cant get it onto the trailer with these tires. The lazy sob offers no help and i end up driving 40 miles home to get 4 spare wheels and tires. Really getting kinda pissed at this point. :flame: Not so much with the deal, but the lazy a-holes lack of decency and willingness to help. He had several mopars and i would bet that he had some roller tires/wheels that he could have offered  to lend me. My bro in law and i change the four tires. Out of spite, i leave the 4 shitty ones sitting in his driveway as well as some garbage that was in the trunk.  :yesnod:

i hate ups, had one bad experience with them and that was it.  Its fed ex ground for me.  works great everytime.

havent had a bad ebay experience yet....   just the seller that wants me to leave feedback first before they do.  If i paid in full and they shipped the package, what more can i do?  they are just waiting incase i leave negative feedback to retaliate.

ive had bad ebay experience where I paid guy with paypal and he didnt even have account for paypal. So I take money back but then he claims that i never paid him. Im like wtf dude, you never got paypal account or youd have your money right there. So negative for him and me. Idiots like that spoil whole ebay experience for everyone.

Some buyers can be just as unreasonable as the sellers. My 1st negative came on a 71-74 charger dash pad that was advertised as a good core to be used in conjunction with a dash cap or to be recovered. I didnt take close up pics of the cracks since my ad stated it was only a core. Guy evidently didnt understand what a core was and left me a negative because the pad had a couple cracks. Seems like he thought he was going to get a mint dash pad for $25.   :slap:
Another guy left me a negative and said i was a slow shipper. He paid for it on saturday, it was shipped on monday, he got it on wednesday. :shruggy: He got pissed when i left him a similiar feedback. He called me on the phone demanding to know "why did you leave me a negative feedback?" i simply replied "because you are a dumb-ass"
I`ve had quite a few buyers email me wanting to know "when the $!@#$ am i going to get my package?" , "I paid you for it a long time ago"
only to find out "a long time ago" was 3 or 4 days.
Onother  left me a nuetral ..............  "poor packaging, item broken when USPS threw it over my fence"  :brickwall:
I really like the ones who use a Buy it Now  and then want to back out because they found it cheaper somewhere else :ahum:

I drove to Ohio to pick up a 61 Bubble Top Impala I had won, for $3200, which I already sent a $1000 deposit...
The listing said it had a Muncie 4 speed, a 12 Bolt Posi, a perfect center console, etc....
My brother and I meet the guy at some run down old farm house, and the car has a powerglide, and a bench seat with no console, and a truck rear end... My brother and I are like WTF?  ??? He says, " oh, all those parts are on another car, back behind the barn"....
We go back there, no car back here  ??? We then here the guy tearing out of there in his truck....:image_294343:
It's his house, so we wait a couple hours for him to come back....
He came back, and I'll end the story here..... :icon_smile_blackeye: :boxing_smiley:

:iagree: :iagree:  I hate when sellers do that.  I won't leave a seller a positive until they give me one first, if I've paid in full and on time..   :flame:

nh_mopar_fan

For a while, I was doing pretty well moving concert/sports tickets on Ebay. It's legit here in NH. I had more than a few clowns who would win the auction and then disappear.

I had one guy who won a pair of tickets fo like $100. A week or two later, the moron finally sends me email and says he only wants one of the pair. Then, the next day, he sends me email saying he wants both but can only paypal me half the money. You have got to be kidding me.

I left others the appropriate feedback:

Never responded/sent payment. User ID indicates brain location.                     Buyer   poop_chute ( -1 )

Right now, I am waiting for a guy to ship 2 rear panels for the Signet convertible. It's been a month. I spoke to him 2 weeks ago and he said they were going out last week. Nothing. I sent him email yesterdy. Still no response. Judging from his feedback, he makes a habit of taking forever to ship. If he thinks he's getting positive feedback, he's dreaming.

The dramatic ending...
When the dude left, his wife and 8 or 9 year old son where in the house, so we sat around and listened to sob stories about this douche bag's drug and alchohol problems, blah, blah, blah....
His wife tells us to take whatever we want from the barn, his kid showed us where the good stuff was, an old Dyers 6-71 blower with a pair of Holley 660's on top, an old set of polished Ansen Sprints, and some other misc 61-62 Chevy stuff...
He comes back, my brother and I where sitting on his porch, the loser grabs a baseball bat and starts smashing the bed rails of my bro's El Camino, we jumped on the dude, took his bat, and my brother damn near choked him out, we whipped on him for a while, while his wife watched, she told him he was getting what he had coming, she had told him so... Really put a hurtin' on the guy, loaded up the POS Chevy, which was cool because I had only given him a grand for it, and I got his stash of parts...
Pretty crazy day, all in all...

That's funny!  :smilielol:  I thought to myself, "finally Neil snapped from all the stupid questions we ask him!" :icon_smile_big:

My ebay experience:  I was a low bidder ($175) on a tic toc tach for a 68 Charger on ebay, in very good condition I must say with "no reserve" and when I contacted the guy, he said he had changed his mind cause his tach had just broken on his 68 Road Runner.  :flame: I contacted ebay to see if that was legit to do and they gave me the run around, they danced around the issue cause this guy apparently did alot of business with them. I don't use ebay at all anymore - I've heard good experiences from many other users thou - I guess it was just my luck on the first time use - bottom line is that they left a bad taste in my mouth!  not going back.

I won an auction for a set of 4 rims for a Dodge Ram, less than 15,000 miles.  Seeing how my tires were over 60,000 and these were less than 15k and aluminum  I thought it a good deal.
Well after having the tires shipped and I picked them up they were worn to the chords.  I said no way can these be only 15k miles so I contact the seller.  He argues with me, I explain that these can't be what he claims and he decided to take them back and give me a refund.  Of course I was out the shipping.
Other than that everything else has been good.  I check the sellers/buyers feedback and take it from there.  If not comfortable I don't deal.  Rememmber if it is too good to be true, it probably is, unless it comes from a friend.

I recently bought a set of NOS door edge protectors for my 72 from glnos (should have waited, found a nicer set on ebay after for less). Anyway they were described as "new condition" and "very nice" and in the pics they were. But the pics had the rust holes covered up with the old packaging. Also no packing material was used and when I got the parts they were rattling around in a muffler box. Not impressed. glnos (Great Lakes NOS) wont return any of my emails. Havent left feedback yet.

I've had some extremely good sellers. Ones who sold me parts that ended with no bids for less than the starting bid. One guy waited patiently while my payment took over 1 month to get to him, and still gave me a positive due to it not being my fault.
WANTED: NOS or excellent condition 72-74 4 speed shifter boot for bench or centre armrest car, part number 3467755. It's a rubber boot that looks like it's sewn up leather.

WANTED: My original 440 blocks. Serial # 2A188182 and 3A100002
