First time I ever saw this steering wheel in a B-Body & it actually looks great.

My 70 Road Runner needs a steering wheel & the one that came with it is a wood grain wheel & cracked. I have this same E-Body wheel in mint condition & was going to list it for sale. After spotting this photo I am going to try it out to see how it fits. :popcrn:

Has anyone else ever tried this swap? :shruggy:

This is where I saw it..... https://www.throttlextreme.com/killer-70-road-runner-muscle-car/

It will be a plug and play job. It doesn't need to be the E body adaptor which is a bit longer, but the regular A/B body one is quite enough

Thanks Nacho.

I had pulled this steering wheel from a Challenger in the junkyard back in the 80's with a few other parts that I sold, but for whatever reason nobody wanted the wheel. Anyway, I eventually packed it up to protect it, listed it years later cheap & it was ready to ship. I forgot that I had a second column extension & actually don't know where it came from.  :shruggy:

The accordion style one is definitely for the E-Body, but the shorter one is smooth, 3 inches long but I am not sure what it's off.

Smooth ones are A/B bodies. The accordion ones are E bodies and are longer because the dash pad is also more "protuded" than A and B bodies dashes. E bodies steering wheel with the smooth adaptor makes fit the wheel too close to the dash.

Truck also got same smooth adaptor, but as far I know, without the master key on splines.

Correct, when I pulled the wheel years ago in the junkyard it was in a Challenger & had the accordion style adaptor which I saved. I also have the shorter, smooth one, but I don't remember where I got it.  :shruggy:

I've had the 2 spoke wheel since the early 80's so a lot of time, buying, selling & trading has gone by & some of it is a complete blur.  :smilielol:

Is the steering wheel farther away from the dash than the original wheel was ?

Looks like you might have to move the seat back a bit to still be comfortable and not have the wheel tight against your chest

I think it's more of an optical illusion. I set both wheels face down on my work bench and the mounting surfaces were the same height. I didn't measure it but if it's different, it's minimal.

It's an optical ilusion caused by the adaptor. Steering wheels with the adaptor get the spokes flat while the rest of wheels are concave against the column. The depth of the regular wheel spokes  is taken by the adaptor, but the adaptor makes the column to look longer.

If you check E bodies wheel options, no one steering wheel is a regular one and everyone needs the collapsible and longer adaptor because there is no a single regular steering wheel which would fit correctly into the car since as mentioned, they will fit too close to the dash pad "eyebrow" over the cluster. Same happens with the smooth and shorter adaptor
