water inside the cab when rains by quarter window

I have this MAJOR problem... water is entering to cab by quarter window. I always have thought on that is a posibility since bad design of quarter window system and sealing, but this is worring me more than never now, since never had water up to floor pans in the past.

Today remove rear bench and the seatbelt section from my lower rear panel and with a water hose started to rain water over quarters and saw how water entered on car. water was filling the space inside the quarter area where regulator is, and part of this water was entering up to floor pans.

how much of this is "normal"

-weatherstripes are new... BAD YO REPROS but new.
-Does the lower quarter section had originaly somekind of drain hole or slot like doors have ?

Anyway, water is arriving up to floor pans doesn't comes directly from what is be filled on that area, is coming for the splashed water coming inside the cab there.

Damn... this can't be normal...

Maybe THAT'S the real reason you always need to change floor pans and get a LOT OF RUST on lower quarter area.

My driver's side floor in the back used to get lots of water in a heavy rain. It drove me nuts for a long time. Mine was actually blowing in at the top of the quarter window and coming down inside the interior side panels then soaking forward from under the back seat. I finally found the problem when I had the interior out to redo it and just put some chalk lines around the inside of the car and waited for it to rain and took it for a drive. I was able to trace where the water cut the chalk lines back to the source.

I already located where exactly enters the water... is at the end of outer weatherstrip ehre the vertical molding hides down the quarter. That area is VERY bad desinged from factory since even If my car had the original weatherstrip ( were replaced with Year One Repros ) the gap will be allways there just because the way the vertical mold hides down teh quarter when you roll down teh window.

There are body drains for the 1/4's.

You can take a pic of where they are originally ?... take in mind my lower quarters are home made.

I know there are drain plugs on REAR section of quarters, where outer body panel meets with trunk extensions, but I'm talking on section between wheel and door... at quarter window area.

Really the drain plugs are on trunk extensions

Besides the body plug in the extension there are small drains made at the bottom of the 1/4's where the innner and outer are welded together.

I do have that problem on one of my 72`s. Its caused some rust thru on the pass side rear floor board. I assumed it was coming thru the 1/4 window seal. i did some repair to the seal in such a way that i was pretty sure it wouldn`t leak, but i am still getting water on the rear floor. My next step is to have one of my kids spray the car with a water hose while i am inside it. Hopefully, i will be able to pinpoint the leak for sure and take care of it.

I have already located the leak... it looks to enter between of the end of weatherstrip and quarter jam seal. Is a free weatherstrip area ( BAAAD DESIGN STUFF ) to be able to enter the vertical mold.

Oh sorry, hehe... I read it better now...

where exactly ? do you have pics ? I made patches by myself from middle of quarter up to that area and it looks I could miss those drains.

Anyway some unvoluntary drain I could left on that area since that are gets emptied alone, the problem about water entering up to floor pans I think is teh water that spits allong the inner quarter frame
