67 Charger fender turn signal bulbs

I am working on my next weekend fix on my 67 Charger.  One of the fender turn signal bulbs is out.  I have been replacing incandescents with LED's to take load of the electrical system (the tail lights were a big improvement).  I have never tackled the fender bulbs before so I am looking for some recommendations here.  Anyone have an led they have used? And do you take off the trim or go under the fender to get to the bulb?  I am nervous about messing with the molding since they are pretty nice (one has a small crack by the screw hole though) but if I have to remove the molding I may get the replacement lenses too since mine are original and cracked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Spartan, I converted my fender signals to LED a while ago and they look fine. The original bulb is a 330 and oddly enough Superbright did NOT have them as LED. They said S4S/8 was the replacement and they do not fit.
I had to search around and ended up finding them at Grainger (we have a local store):
They are Lumapro MiniLED lmf12 .2w T1 3/4 12v Item # 3FRK5 and were $1.21 each. That was 9/2018 so hopefully they are still available.
search shows https://www.grainger.com/product/3FRK5?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2Nf2pdS46gIVja_ICh0ESwsBEAYYASABEgKe0fD_BwE&cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMI2Nf2pdS46gIVja_ICh0ESwsBEAYYASABEgKe0fD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!281698275492!!!g!471548658361!
I can send you a short video if you like.

(not sure if these are same) Also:

I do remember I ended up getting them locally

Sorry I'm not convinced yet on leds for our cars.

( the 330 bulb load is so minimal that wouldn't make the flasher to work by itself )

Thanks for the feedback.  I was reading a chart wrong and was looking at the wrong size bulb...  that saved me a headache.  How do you get to them, by removing the screw in the molding and removing it or do you get at it from underneath? I just haven't messed with them before and don't want to mess up the molding/housing

There is one screw, which is obvious at the very front and YES, be careful not to over tighten that.
And there (or at least should be) a nut under the fender, kind of swivel nut.
I have attached a pic so you can see what it is like. This is a pic of my old ones, the wire is broken off but you get the idea and you will see once yours is removed.
Once you remove both, the tip comes off the fender, then there are 2 screws that hold the little amber lens in, be careful with that, no doubt it is also brittle.
The bulb sits in the socket which sits in the amber lens.
As I said mine work fantastic and be happy to send you a short video of it working. Same if you need more pics.

That's what I needed, thank you! Since I have to remove the trim, I might as well replace the lenses too.  Mine are original and faded/cracked.

Just be careful, I thought for certain the ones at superbite if anywhere would be the ones to work but the shape of the bulb is everything. If it won't fit into the plastic section it is of no use. Be certain they are the same shape as the original bulb. There is no room to work with ... these will not work:

I found one for the 330 on an airplane instrument site with a low lens profile in the midget base.  I asked super bright too and he said he didn't have anything for the 330.  They didn't get amber since most that size are white so I just rolled with it.  Figured White was in it already so what the heck.  My 69's lights did come in amber so I picked them up from the same place.  I just need to find a low load flasher for the blinker on the 69, for what ever reason, bothe flashers on the 67 are 2 prong which are easy to find (already installed them last year).  The 69 have one 2 prong style like the 67 for the hazard and the other one on the 69 is some different 4 pronged style that I cannot find a replacement for so my blinkers there don't work so well.

mmmm I'd try to get an amber led... depending on white intensity or temperature the white led will "wash" the amber color of the lense when lighting on. If there was a chance to choose between white color temperature I wouldn't choose anything over 2800K. That will emulate the incandescent white color/temperature.

needless to say once again I'm not a fan of Leds on our cars LOL

This is what I ended up getting.  Amber wasn't available for the 330.  Once I get them I will play around with them before putting them in.  I like them mainly to take the load off the system.  Used to be when I hit the brakes the alternator needle would take a dive.  Now it barely moves.  Both my cars are a little squirrelly electrically so anything I could do to take stress off the system, I try to do.

Even is true the leds will relax the load all around you have another problems related to wiring and Led's are just masking them, but problems are still there

What I can see on the leds you posted from that website, is they are designed to light up pilot light on aircraft dashes. So will light up MOSTLY straight up to the front, not to sides, which is the big trouble of leds. Being for turn lights you need them lighting up at least 180° ( althought incandescents light up maybe 270-300° around ) all around because drivers are around you, not on top. I guess the amber lense will refract partially the light, but won't light up all the lense.

as I allways mention, is just my point on view.

is good they offer a warm white light option ( that would be the one to choose ).

The pic they show are showing part of the side light proyected on wall. Would be nice to see them on the real application

about specs of bulbs

original incandescent is 14 Volt 0.08 Amp
that led is 14 volts 30 miliamp

50 miliamp of difference which even is more than double ( or less than half LOL ) is still nothing to the system

I agree.  Being low profile I was worried about that exact thing. When my lenses come in I am going to play with them and see if thats an issue before I put them in.

On my 11 Challenger and 67/69 Charger I used plasma bulbs for the tail/running lights.  They project well all the way around and when I step on the brakes they are really pop. Like any of these, you have to watch the depth because they are longer and come close to the lenses.  If too big they won't fit.

I guess what got me on the plasma LED kick was the bulb sockets on my 11 had heat damage near the bulbs.  I am sure it's normal but I figured why not have something that runs cooler and eliminate the problem.  Plus on the 11 I put LEDs in the trunk, license plate and interior lights that were green (the car is Green With Envy) just to have some fun with it.  Plus I got tired of putting the cars in neutral At red lights to rev the engines to keep the power up with the brake lights on.  Doing that for 35 years was enough, lol.

And with these old cars, every weekend is an adventure, lol

newer cars got their light housings designed to modern lighting fixtures, but the old ones are designed to incandescent able to light up non directional lights ( around 300° around ) like leds are. That's why there are day after day more leds replacements trying to get or emulate the same incandescent light coverage all around to "wake up" or "excite" the light housings and their reflection and lenses refractions, trying to save the lense "washing" when they light on just to the front!

I am doing the same, trying to take the load off the system as my Alt gauge does the same.
Again, I offer to send you or anyone who would like to see a 5 sec video of the fender tips working in daylight BTW with the Grainger bulbs I purchased.
They work fine and I did nothing to the system to get them to flash properly.

I ordered 4 of these as well to see what one looks the best since my other stuff won't be here till Tuesday.  The car goes into the shop Monday to replace some gaskets I can't get to at home. Actually, if you have a short video, I would love to see it.  I am curious now since I am fueled with coffee and getting ready to get the toys out of the garage for another day of car fun, lol.
