Hey gang..

Through the restoration of my 69 Charger 500, attention to detail has surfaced and with that, question some of the parts I have for the car. I have seen 2 versions of this front bumper guard support bracket that is positioned between the bumper brackets just above the front valance...

What's the difference if known:

1. just a vendor thing
2. single holes are 68-69 and the 4 hole version is 70?

This query got me to looking at my '69 R/T. I did not know there was a difference. Mine indeed has 4 holes. VIN is 308847, so mid production run? I cannot be 100% sure, but I believe that mine is original as I have owned the car since 1980 and there was no apparent dis-assembly evidence prior to my ownership. I cannot get a good photo at the moment.
You know you are vintage when someone says, "Back in the day", and you can dispute their facts.

In my 69 parts book, exploded view shows one slotted hole. WINGNUT

I was going to check my parts book as well when I get out to the shop. Parts book illustrations are not always 100% I have found though. Troy seems to have got a confirmation somewhere.

Your picture from the 1970 parts book shows 4 holes. The 1969 shows 2 holes, same as my parts book. What I am wondering is if it was possibly a late 1969 change that coincided with the introduction of the taller front bumper guards? My car originally came with the taller guards, which I replaced because I thought they were wrong. Found out years later that they were actually correct but had been swapped right to left so they did not fit properly! I recently found my originals, but still prefer the earlier version.

sorry for the confusion guys

thats good thinking ! maybe for tall bumper guards,

maybe we all could have a look at & have a kind of poll as to what one we have  on our 69s &  what SPDs  / tall bumper guards or not  & post here etc

Dano 1

Just checked mine and it is a 4-hole version. My car has a build date of 2/24 for reference.

My thoughts were that in '70 this support crossmember could have dual applications, 70 Charger and 70 Coronet if equipped with optional bumper guards.
