Hey all who carries the best complete weather strip kit as all the rubbers for my 69 charger  is it better to get it from one vendor or separate  vendors just concerned that one makes a better window strip and another has a better truck seal or has someone found one vendor that has a fantastic complete kit thanks ahead for your reply's

We have been supplying weatherstripping as both a manufacturer, wholesaler and retail for over 28 years.  We have always chose different pieces from different manufactures to give the customer what we believe is the best overall kit.  One thing to take into consideration is some pieces are sourced from the same manufacturer, but just rebagged so that the manufacturer can offer product coverage.  Another thing to take into consideration is most vendors will only stock one brand so that they can keep their volume pricing intact for them to maintain the largest profit margin.  We are unique in that we provide all of the manufactures certain pieces and thus we are able to purchase from them and thus offer the customer a broader selection of product.

Depending upon the year model and body style, one brand of door seals for example may fit better than the other manufactures.  Through our years within the restoration industry, you will find what does and does not fit.  No matter the manufacturer, I always suggest trying to reuse the factory door and roof rail seals.  The factory seals even 50 years old if in good shape will fit better and function better than 80% of the reproductions.

Rubber extrusion can vary from one production run to another.  One pair of door seals will work well, but the next set from the same manufacturer may have issues.  The production process is affected by many variables, even with the modern equipment, variations will occur from one run to another.

The other obstacle to cover in offering kits is one customer will need everything except the window felts where the other customer will not need the roof rail seals, so we have just found it easier to list the individual items out and allow the customer to tell us his needs from the list.  As a suggestion, no matter who you purchase from; ask the vendor who is the supplier of the product.  Some of the items will fit very well while some pieces will after a couple months of use show signs of issues or will not even work from the installation.  Be careful looking at pricing as some vendors will offer for example quarter glass seals at a reduced price and the customer believes that he is getting the correct part, but in fact they are getting a lower cost piece with no flocking.

Just because the item is the most expensive, does not guarantee that it is a superior product as well.  You just have to know the product to choose correctly and do your research to what you will feel is your best purchase.  Feel free to drop me a message as we can hopefully offer you some guidance in your search.

I just sent you an email response.  In regards to a pictorial breakdown on the various seals, you can reference the various seals in the factory service manuals in section 23 for the Body section.  From the My Mopar Link, just select the 69 Parts Manual, you can also view the factory service manuals as well.     http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=107
