What's the best way to get major kinks and wrinkles out of carpet? It's been in the box for about a year ( totally my fault for not letting it breathe or putting in out in the sun) Thanks for any and all replies

Heat gun. Be careful not to burn it. Lay it out and warm it up and work out the wrinkles. If you can lay it out and leave it for a few days.

The Best way ?
IMO,
take it out of the box, lay it flat ( preferably in a warm area )  and walk away for a while. ,,,,like a couple months .

Wait 2 months by laying it out (especially in the hot sun), possibly burn your carpet with a heat gun or use a hand steamer. I have tried all three and certainly the steamer works best.
