Were the engines and trans stamped Xx or XS on 500s?

My 500 is an early one and has XS on the tag and XX on the dash, how were the engine/trans stamped? This Ebay example got me wondering, my stuff is long gone in I think Washington but I'm just curious.

One of my 500's is stamped xs everywhere, including the dash vin  :2thumbs:

All fender tags will read XS before November 14th.
