Anyone have advice.

eBay is pretty safe when it comes to that. I've been on there for a good 5 years and never had a problem.

Most of the bad stuff you hear about eBay has to do with people not paying for what they bought, people not sending stuff that they have been paid for, and a few dumbasses that managed to get sucked into "send me a western union transfer" scams.

i've sold on ebay.  just make sure you go on to the ebay site first to register, it's pretty secure.  hit the sell button and fill it all out.  when you get to the ads and such and want to save some fees, write me back.
example everything costs money on there like pics (first one free, rest cost money) save on that by taking one clear great picture of your item, then in bold write email me for more pics.
i've got more tips although i'm not a pro at it.
let me know if you want my :Twocents:

oh yeah and use paypal(register it's free, you gotta do a little bank stuff first) and not just money order or cashier check.  that turns people off if you don't have paypal, at least me anyways.

examples
2 items identical one accepts paypal the other doesn't, guess which one i'm bidding on unless it's sucha great deal and i can't pass it up of course.
also, make sure you are willing to ship, i won't bid on something that noone is willing to at least help out with shipping.

ok i'm done for now unless you want more.

yeah PayPal is pretty convenient. like mike was saying, when it comes to choosing between two items, the one that accepts PayPal gets my preference. People dont wanna go through the hassle of having to buy a M.O. , mailing it and waiting till it gets there or writing a check and going through the same process as the M.O., but then waiting 8 days til it clears before your item gets shipped. Also, most buyers are hesitant to  provide their CC number to just anyone. At least PayPal is secure and well known - and if you set it up right, you can have your $ wired into your bank account free of charge.

Yeah, there are 'horror' stories about PayPal, but then again there are horror stories about regular banks, cell phone carriers, etc.. if we avoided those services based on the bad experiences of a few, you wouldnt be able to do anything.

but then paypal charges like 3.5% to recieve money from someone.  so keep that in mind.

I like paypal for the convenience, the fee is a trade off.  Nothing is free.  I have been buying ans selling on eBay and paypal for probably 5 years now with no problems.

I agree, paypal makes things go much faster and easier!
