Remember all those rumors about another Dukes of Hazzard movie? Well it's happening, but it won't be a sequel. Instead, it'll be a low budget prequel with a replacement cast of teenagers.

Long time CB scooper Liam Wrberly sent us the heads up, after uncovering a recently released casting notice looking for Dukes replacement players. The prequel will introduce Bo and Luke Duke as teenagers during their first wild weeks in Hazzard County battling Boss Hogg and delivering Moonshine for Uncle Jesse. In the prequel, the plot will revolve around Boss Hogg trying to establish a moonshine monopoly of his own, presumably at the expense of Uncle Jesse's slightly illegal still business. As usual, Boss Hogg's first move is to foreclose on the Duke farm, and while the boys try to save it we learn the origins of the General Lee and Daisy Duke's daisy dukes.

And you thought the original movie was bad.

The good news here is that the casting notice for the film clearly marks it as "straight to DVD", so don't expect to see this anywhere in theaters. Instead, look for it in the checkout lane at Wal-Mart, probably next to one of those horrible National Lampoon movies or one of the many upcoming American Pie direct to DVD spinoffs.

This probably also means that any thought of a legitimate Dukes of Hazzard sequel is dead. If you were looking forward to a new batch of on-set Jessica Simpson bikini pics, you'll have to hope those rumors of her starring in a Baywatch movie come true.

Well, Warner Bros still has about 23 General Lees they built for the last movie stored away in a Burbank warehouse.  And more importantly, this franchise grossed $70 million on a terrible movie.  You knew something  else was gonna happen in Hazzard County soon.

Sounds like "Dumb and Dumber-er" to me.

thanks for the pop ups  :2thumbs:

You're welcome. Perhaps updating your archaic pop-up blocking software would help. ;)

When we all buy the movie to see the GL it just adds fuel to the fire. To help stop them making DOH movies, NOT buying the trash is about the only way to get it to end.[/color]

Yea, except the first Dumb & Dumber actually was worth something. It was funny in parts (dog truck, headless bird) and it had Teri Garr in it (always a plus). The recent DOH flick just all around blew chunks...It can only go downhill from there...

What's so disappointing is that I think someone could do a really GOOD  "Dukes" movie without spending a ton of money at all.

-------------------------------------------------------------

It was originally a cheap "throwaway" TV show in the first place.  The only thing about it that costs any money is the wrecked cars, and even that cost is still pretty small as far as Hollywood is concerned.  (A few hundred thousand dollars would buy all the cars you'd need.  The average fart-joke SNL movie gets $25 million to work with.)

Line up anything even resembling a decent script & actors, wreck some cars in a small town, and it would make a fortune.  There's a huge built-in audience already there.  They're eager to pay for any movie called "Dukes" that isn't absolute dogshit.

VegasMike bought a fender from one of the stunt guys from the last movie. (GREAT GUY).. We knew back in early 2005 this was coming. He had allready been hard at work hunting cars and parts for the next bunch of movie cars.

Well like I said before, they've got over 20 Chargers left from the last movie that they saved for sequels.  (About a dozen decent running big-block Chargers, and another dozen cars/shells that were cut up & modified for camera work.)

And I don't see much demand for more DOH stuff now that the big-time movie tanked.  After this new straight-to-video flick they'll probably call it quits.

Maybe the new and improved movie will use the 4-door.. They can smash them ALL to hell as far as I'm concerned........    :smash:

I never saw the DoH film, for the reason that you would expect. However, the plus side of anyone using a Mopar in any film is that it helps keep the prices nice and high.......good news if you got one, bad news if you don't. It doesn't hurt for people to fly the flag for 60's/70s muscle though...no -one wants Joe public to forget how xool these cars are...just my  :Twocents:
