Assembly Question: Interior Rear Upper Pad - (by rear side window)

I disassembled my 68 about 25 years ago.  Now I'm reassembling it and low and behold I got a problem.   ::)

I'm talking about the upper pad by the rear side window.  It's held on by one screw and three spring clips.  However, the clips don't line up with any holes in the inner sheet metal.  I think I'm missing a part;  sheet metal of some type?   it's probably someplace in my basement or garage.

I've searched the net and cannot find any pics of that area.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?  I just need to see a picture of it and I probably can find it in my stash.

Wish I would have had a digital camera back in my disassembly days.

Tom68

Yea, I saw that, but the pic wasn't clear enough to recognize it; and no mention of it in the add.  I was hoping someone who was familiar with it could be more definitive.

The very first picture in that ad has the metal piece you are missing
It is galvanized
It goes onto the car with screws

There is also one more small piece that should go on before the padding
It is black plastic
It goes at the very back edge of window opening
Keeps any water off the interior part
Not sure what that part is called
Kind of looks like a boomerang with a couple plastic clips on it

Thanks for the help.  I'll dig a little deeper in my stash tomorrow.  Any idea where I can see pics?

I did a web search and can not find a picture of what I am looking

I just put these parts together on my car a week ago

I have some more laying around and will get a couple pictures tomorrow

DAY CLONA

here's the galvanized rear plates you need to attach first to the interior before installing the rear upper pads

Don't forget the black plastic water shields that clip in between the rear corner of the side qtr windows before you assemble the rear upper pads...sorry no pics of those, maybe someone else can help with that?

Well, I found my passenger side; with screws & a piece of plastic.  I have the smaller plastic.
Also, can't find my drivers side.  Arg!

WINGNUT, I would be interested in the drivers side and it's plastic.  I'll send you a PM.

Tom68

Dare I ask one last question?  Any pics of how the plastic goes on?

I did not take any pictures when I did mine

On the top edge of the car window opening on the inside of the car
The car is level flat and you can see the out side of the 1/4 is higher
Right at the very back corner on the inside of the car the plastic shield just clips on the level part of the car and the back edge of opening where it starts to tip up

My picture the long part of the plastic is the bottom
The one in my picture is for driver side

There is a left and right side version of these so if you can not figure it out try on the other side of the car

That helped, thanks.  I think I've got the plastic in the right spot.

I could swear I had those black plastic water shields but I sure as heck can't find them! Crap...

I sold him what he needed. If anybody needs the metal brackets or the plastic shields I have more for sale. WINGNUT
