Just dropped off my radiator to a local industrial radiator place to have it tested and possibly rebuilt. The radiator is original on the number matching 68 Charger R/T so I told the tech guy at the shop that I wanted the radiator not to be cut up or anything. He told me that it looked like a double core radiator. Does anyone know for sure what 440 hp's came with? The Charger is an A/C car. I was wondering if it would be better to make a 3 core rad if it's not. Wouldn't mind in increasing cooling capacity v.s keeping it original. The rad does not leak but the fins look a bit tired. Any thoughts, opinions or comments from anyone that has "been there and done that"?????

I had my radiator for my 69 RT 440 with A/C recored by a local radiator shop and he did an awesome job, he just went by the part number on the top tank and ordered a new core for it and it fit perfectly, my radiator was a factory 4 core and I think yours should be at least a 3 core, but I assume it's probably a 4 core but i'm not positive, sometimes there is an extra row of holes in your tank and you can add an extra row of cores, your radiator guy should be able to help you out on that one.

I was told by the rad guy that it's a 3 core unit and he cannot go 4 core cause the base and bottom pieces would not allow it - size wise. He quoted me $ 280 to restored it; i.e, brand new cores, the only original part will be the base and top pieces were all the numbers are.

The mounting flange on the passenger's side is where the date code normally is though.  If they reuse the flanges, you'll be in good shape.

10-4! they will use the side flanges too. The only new piece will be the cores. Thanks.
