Dumb question? Could you buy a 73-74 Rallye Charger with a 318 2bbl. ??

I was asked and wasn't sure. Thought a 340 was the smallest on a Rallye Package.

I found some info on that MoPar Collector's Guide site, but when reading engine specs that had a 318 putting out more than a 340, I questioned it...

I had a 73 Rallye Charger with a 318. It was ordered with the Rallye Appearance Package.

Yes its true, but the package still included sway bars F and R, so it was not just "appearance". You actually got some perf upgrade and not just
a decal package.

the only 1973-'74 b-body with 318 2bbl & factory dual exhaust was Road Runner

The "340" had a nameplate. I remember the 74 Rallye Charger 360 had a "MAGNUM" callout.
Price of gas was pushing big blocks out and small blocks in. 

In 1973 gas DOUBLED in price from .25 to .50 a gallon!

It seems I read that you could not get a 4 speed with a 318 either.  Only the 3 speed.  Could be wrong.
And yes, "magnum" for 360, and "340 Magnum" for ... well... the 340.

Plymouth was less subtle about it.  I like the (SB) numbers painted across the hood or on the rear.

yeap, 4 speeds just for Magnum engines. Although supossely no 4 speeds on 74 440s, but was instead optional on 318s
