What is the difference between a pair of 69 doors and a pair of 68's?  The door lock button seems to be in a different location on the two but that is all I can see. Will the doors swap?

Yes that is the basic difference.  You will need a 68 upper pad as well unless you do a modification to the lock mechanism & move it forward
