is the 337 intake same height with the indy dual plane?
thanks

c00nhunterjoe

I tbink its a tad shorter but i cant recall exactly. Both fit under the stock hood for sure. Ive been searching for 1 for years and given up... ordering the indy dual plane in max wedge port shortly.

komninon

ok thanks.
got mine from summit , had to wait.... but i think you can still get it.
thanks

You are lucky. Mine has been backordered for 2 years now....

337 is shorter.  2D and RPM are the same.  I think Ron actually has both so He could probably tell you how much shorter the 337 is.

500" NA, Eddy head, pump gas, exhaust manifold with 2 1/2 exhaust with tailpipes
4150 lbs with driver, 3.23 gear, stock converter
11.68 @ 120.2 mph

Good to know the 2d is same as the rpm. Curious to see what gains i see this spring over my current frankentake

The MP 337 will clear a stock 68/69 hood with EZ heads and a drop base air cleaner. As mentioned above the MP intake manifold is slightly shorter than the ICH dual plane.

Good luck with that 337 from Summit. I too was on the list for the 337, after 6 months I found one one on ebay. Summit will keep telling you that it will be shipped next week. I sent mine out to Larry Smith at Flow tech to have it opened up to the full Max Wedge opening as it isn't quite at the Max Wedge port window size. Also had it worked over in the runner area. I'll be selling my Indy 2D if anyone is interested. It's powder coated and a very nice piece. Going multiport with my 337.

Im not ordered through summit. I have a contact through chrysler, considerably cheaper then summit as well.  What state are you in? Message me about the indy intake please

With regards to porting the 337 manifold : Mine is bone stock....not even port matched. The 337 is definitely not a true MW size....it's halfway between std port and MW port window. When we dyno'd the motor we did back to back tests between it and the ICH 440-2 which is a true MW intake manifold and is quite a bit taller with more plenum area.

The difference was approx. 15hp between the two. This is on a 700+ HP pump gas 572ci street/strip type build, fwiw  ;)

There is probably some power to be found with porting the 337 intake but I wouldn't be expecting miracles....all in all it did pretty good as-is  :2thumbs:

I think given my combination, the extra porting will help. Depending on if i actually get o e shipped amd when, i may try to get track data in both scenarios.

That would be interesting to see with regards to an A-B comparison (stock vs ported) but I'm guessing the difference may be 15-20hp depending on the combo which may equate to a 10th in ET reduction ?

I may at some point send mine out as well just to "make things right" but based on the dyno testing I wouldn't be expecting any "Big" gains  ;)

hi Ron , the 337 made 15 hp more or less than the indy dual plane on your build?
thank you George

c00nhunterjoe

I put this 440 together to be as ignorant as possible, so every last hp i can squeeze out of it to get this 2 ton pig down the track will be helpful. The ultimate goal is 130mph on stock origonal suspension, then upgrade and dip into the 9s on a stock stroke 440.

Hi George,

The 337 made about 15hp more than Indy's dual plane on mine. The Indy single plane (440-2) made around 15 HP more than the 337.....but it is taller with real MW sized ports and runners with a bigger plenum as well. No way to fit the ICH single plane under the hood (without a scoop) so I went with the 337.

Good info Firefighter. I currently have an Indy 2D on top of a set of Compu-flow prepped Indy EZ Max Wedge heads on my 512. I finally found a 337 and sent it directly to Larry Smith at Flow Tech 2 to have it opened all the way up as well as runner work. The end goal is to go multiport with the 337 as it has bosses that will accommodate the injectors. However I am going to try the 337 for a back to back against the Indy 2D for comparisons sake.
