To change a Holley carb. for e-85  it looks like a rebuild kit is all thats needed or is there more to it than that ?  Other than an electric fuel pump do you know of a mechanical pump for alcohol ??  Obviously I will need to change the rubber lines too.

Maybe for a race car but with all of the disadvantages, who would be willing to lose 30% fuel economy and 30% driving distance range to use fuel that requires fuel system mods?
I see it like reducing my penis size by a third and making it 30% more sensitive to squirt faster. Why do that ???

it takes a lot more than a kit , the passages are larger in the metering blocks, you need a carb built for e85

I recall reading that this fuel is cheaper than race gas. Yipee......It isn't hard to build decent power with a streetable pump gas compression ratio engine.  I prefer corn on my plate rather than in my tank.

Glad you can't buy that ethanol E85 stuff over here. Fuel is  commonly E5, the highest allowed being E10.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

At 100+ octane, it isn't a bad deal and it can be made from many more substances than corn. Wood pulp and fermented garage can be a couple of sources. How much more performance can you get from another 5-8 points of octane in your compression? Not enough to warrant a rebuild, but if you are already on the ragged edge, it would certainly help a set up survive on the street.

You can bolt on an adapter kit, but internal passages on the carb body will need modification as well.

An alternative to a full blown E85 system would be to go to on demand methanol injection instead. Its like a nitrous plate under the carb and can utilize high alcohol content washer fluid. Same octane benefits as E85, but more widely available and doesn't require all the carb mods.

If on the ragged edge, adjust your advance curve and total timing. If you are talking about homebrewing e85, i wouldnt put it in a car that is on the edge of detonation/meltdown. How will you confirm that every batch is identical?
