So I decided to spend some time working on the Charger....

I had most of the weekend off, no studying to do, just chill. So I grabbed the driver side door glass and vet window assembly and stuck it in the door. Aligned it as best as I could and found a 1/4" gap between the door glass and the quarter glass. What a surprise!

Anyway, I'l get it lined up eventually but I'm a bit worried about the roof rail seal. It's a reproduction that has that small groove to seat the quarter glass, but I think there's a problem aligning the door glass properly with this seal so this may not work. I'll post pics later.

I also had to remove the trim itself and hammer the crap out of it because it was bent up pretty bad Now the door opens and closes fine with the window all the way up. It used to catch with the door glass trim so that's finally solved.

I can make the door glass fit pretty good against the roof seal but it puts more of a strain on the window motor. If I don't force the window into the seal as much then the glass zips up and down real nice so I'l probably end up buying new seals again.

Anyway, that's all I was able to do and I didn't get all that far. But it's a start! I may drop the other door glass in this week and get all this aligning done at the same time. It's a huge pain in the butt so might as well ride it out.

Next up: complete installing the suspension and steering parts. I'll have everything I need by the weekend.

Good, glad to hear you were able to get a little tinkering done to your car  :2thumbs:

Always a good day when you get to work on your car. Keep plugging away!

I do but I  just want it to line up enough so I can safely move all the glass up and down and can open and close the door without causing any damage.   :2thumbs:

I expect to tweak the doors themselves first once the car is on the ground and they are fully assembled.   :yesnod:

Great to hear you got a few hours to work on the ol' girl! I know what you are talking about with the window adjustments, I went out of my  mind to get them close enough to call them good.  :brickwall:

While waiting on some parts for the side glass, I played with the suspension and steering a bit. I got Moog offset bushings, and upper and lower ball joints, and 11/16 tie rods with aluminum connectors from Proforged.

I painted the upper and lower control arms and installed the lowers together with the strut rods and shocks. I put the offset bushings in the upper control arms but didn't have the gear to press them in so the local mechanic will do it tomorrow. Everything is finger snug for now. I also dunked my spindles in Evapo-rust and gave them a few coats of Eastwood cast iron paint.

I also removed the fuel pump, pump rod, and vapor separator, and installed a block off plate. I'll remove the 1/4" return line when the 3/8" line arrives this week. Then I'll have two 3/8" lines in preparation of installing EFI.

It's good to work on the car again!

And you'll be happy to hear that I remembered your advice and also bought the cork Tanks Inc. gaskets for the fuel pump and sending unit!

By the way, does the Tanks Inc. sending unit have a linear resistor or does it work with our stock gauges?

Glad to hear you making some progress with it!!! It has been raining here since thursday and man is it crappy and muddy in my back yard. I would like to just get mine out and cruise around a little bit but not in the messy weather!! Keep plugging away at it dino, every little bit is good  :2thumbs:

Excellent Dino, those are a must. Pair them with Permatex aircraft sealer (sold at any parts store) and they will never leak.

The tanks Inc sending unit (assuming you specified the Mopar sender when you ordered it) is calibrated to the original Mopar OHM ratings. They are made to work as a direct replacement to the original sender.

Are you going with FItech or the Sniper?

Ah yes I forgot the Permatex part. Noted!

I haven't ordered any of the actual EFI stuff yet; I figure I can get the car ready for it and then buy it when the time is right. When that is I don't know. At this time I'm leaning towards the Sniper with the Dual Sync distributor for timing control. I have so much left to do to the car that I will likely do the EFI last. That way I don't have a unit sitting on the shelf that has become obsolete!
I knew the sender was 10-73 ohm but so are the stock repro senders and they are linear so they don't actually work on our cars.

I was about to sell my Firecore stuff when I read that it's best to use your stock ignition to set up the EFI unit before adding timing control, so that's what I'll do.

I'll finish suspension, brakes, and the interior with all its electrical upgrades. Once that is done and the car is on the wheels again then I'll install all the fuel stuff and get it ready for the road.

LOL, just completely rebuilt the front suspension and steering on my charger last week. Need to get it to an alignment shop this week so I can get it to Carlisle. Of course somewhere along the line the vacuum headlights stopped working. GRR..

I need to find time to add my story to a thread that I used as a starting point. Needless to say my front end was ragged out bad.  Glad you are finding some time. It's a tough sell sometimes.
