How to remove the radio?

OK I am investigating fitting a cd player in the radio slot like the guy did in the book Project Charger.  I have removed the radio panel and taken the glove box out.  But I can't figure out how to get the radio out?    It won't come out front ways as its too wide.. and it doesn't seem to come out the glove box way... Can anyone tell me please

Be sure all wires and brackets are disconnected and it will come out from under the dash, may have to remove a defrost hose but it's not hard. There is a support bar and fuse box by glove compartment so it doesn't go that way
