Poor old guy is probably sick of all of you young punks running around his yard all the time.  Spying on him and looking for stuff to steal.  Don't do nothing but make trouble.  69 Charger.  Hmph, he'll show you a damned 69 Charger.  Right on the end of his boot if he was still in his 70's.

 Ya know what's funny?...
Is you guys in 10-20-30 years, when you get kids trespassing and eyein yur Baby!   :icon_smile_wink:

We've been on both sides of the fence,so to speak.
I know how the old man feels...ours sat in the yard for 5yrs. before we had her restored. It gets pretty damn annoying to have people just walk into your backyard ALL the time. At least you just peeked through the fence...lol
My husband and a buddy went to check on a 69 Charger sitting in a field on an Indian reserve nearby, years ago...they ended up running with their tails between their legs...the owner came after them shooting his gun!!! :o

well...    the guy had a few other cars (around 28) back there too...    so its not like its just sitting there and he works on it from time to time....      it just sits...    and nothing gets done to it...     and  if the guy doesnt like me looking at it or peeking through his fense - all he has to do is sell it....

Well, I want to jump in on this one and add my $0.02.  Rolling_Thunder, I have seen other people post here that just because someone else owns a car that they want, then they should sell it to them automatically.  If you really want the car, you have to be coy and fish for it, just as I have to get my collection over the years.  Show the $$$ and minds usually change, but not always (I'm still waiting on a Daytona sitting in the weeds out in one of the fields that I know).  Unfortunately, I am on the side of the owner on this one point: It is his car and he can do with it as he pleases because he is the owner by law.  What I don't like to see here is posts on how to "take" (ie. steal) the Charger from him just because others don't agree with the way the car is being treated.  I have had people try to do this with my cars and they do get the business end of a baseball bat (or something else) if they try to steal my car.  Just because he does not have his cars restored does not mean that they won't be in the future.  If he is 90+ years old, then just wait for the estate auction and buy it then.  I just don't want people assuming that every car that they find is for sale and can be bought with $$$.  I know mine can't while I am alive.......

Well Chad,it appears you have quit a few projetcs on hand.Your list says current projects ,alot of time and money sitting there waiting.I,like any other mopar guy, hates to see these cars dissolve into beyond return and feel we could be doing something with them.Just as you saw your project cars sitting in someone elses yard, and felt they should be resurrected, you bought them, now they are sitting in your yard.I'm not saying that is bad ,because I also have a couple of cars awaiting resto, but not that many.Almost every day I put a few hours on my charger, which is only but a couple of weeks now to paint, and could not imagine to have to do all those projcts you have.Do you do all the work yourself, including the body/paint ,or have that done elsewhere,as it can become costly. What do you have that is all done right now that is turn key, that you can enjoy while these projects are waiting to come together?

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I have a total of 35 cars (most need alot of work), but only drive three regularly.  Most of my cars are hidden inside and are not backyard cars (there are three that would classify as sideyard cars, but are well covered and hidden for value reasons).  Where I am from is probably quite different than where you are from.  Western Kansas cars typically do not rust out badly, even if left outside without protection from the elements.  You do have to watch out for hail and tornados though.  Typically, you have trunk floor and rear quarter rust with maybe some floor rust, depending if it was touching the ground.  So if they sit around, they don't get rust damaged like they do up in the Northeast or baked to death in the Southwest.  As for my cars, the reason that they are not worked on constantly by me is simply because I don't have spare time for them yet.  I am working on my Ph.D. and am a year away from graduation.  Research normally eats 70+ hours of my time a week.  Even when I am home, I have research to do on my project.  When I graduate, I will begin having more time to work on them, plus much more $ to spend for parts and other things for them.  I have not just "sit" on my cars since I got them as some would believe.  Any vacation time that I have is used to work on them and I have collected most of the parts needed to fix most of my cars (with the exception of my HP2).  I was lucky to realize that they would become valuable way before they were worth a darn.  Some of my cars are stripped down remains of what someone used as a parts car years ago.  That explains why I have so many vs. other people.  I usually try to find cars for other people when they stop by to see if my cars are for sale, but I will not sell my cars as they are much like children to me.  As for your question on restoration skills, I am mostly a body and detail man.  I have two friends who speciallize in engines and transmissions and another who does interior and electrical work.  We trade off time (when I have some to spare) on each others cars so that they can get done quicker and much cheaper than hiring it out to a shop.  It actually works out quite well........
