Some of the rules......... most HP/CI was the winner, $5,500 parts budget (sort of), had to make 3 pulls to 7,000 rpm to qualify the engine with no upper rpm limit. Then 3 scored pulls to 7,000 rpm minimum.

I was standing with Comp's Billy Godbold while one engine was pulling 7,800-8,000 rpm and he said, "Can you hear that valve train screaming in protest? It's dying." Sure enough, very quickly it broke a rocker shaft and it's day ended. However, it was the winnah!
