Reliable Pro-Street Cars anyone?

Hey,

Everytime i see some serious build... it is always a pro-touring car.

You know, 200,000+ dollars, reliable, big wheels  :blahblah: (may as well of bought a Super car for that money... but anyway...)

I would like to see who has actually built a reliable pro-street type car.

Keep the car muscle like, hard acceleration etc but still reliable to be driven over 5000 miles without skipping a beat (just like a pro touring car).

Anyone know of Chargers done that way?

Challenger340

By "pro-street" do you mean specifically a back halved type Car, you know with full rear frame rails replaced, Big tire Car(14 X 32 +), full tubs, tin interior, roll bar/cage etc ?
or,
still stock rear frame rails w/mini tub, small tire Cars(12 X 30 -), good support systems ie: fuel, cooling etc., and BIG power that actually get DRIVEN and log lotsa miles on the street ?

If the latter, then yes !
Not a Charger... but a B-Body nonetheless
I just freshened the Customer's HEMI Engine this winter after lots of real street miles over 4 years @ 920 hp N/A on pump gas, now bumped even higher and away he goes again next year !
see here:

Lots of tricks/work in that one for street reliability, V/train Oiling mods, etc., but the thing performed flawlessly.... the only real "problems" being it's propensity to blow the tires off at pretty much any speed ?
NOT for the faint of heart !
It's a real Old School type street brawler capable of... and does.... squish pretty much anything "New" built for acceleration ?

Nope !
It won't turn corners, handle or rallye like any of these new cars obviously, but the Car count of stop light shamed "New" Mustangs/Gen 3 Hemi Challengers/Turbo tit mouses and other wannabe's is pretty comical to watch

i know a guy who claims he has a reliable pro street duster, he has 2 different center sections for it though, one a 4.88 gear and the other a 3.55? i think. he does drive it often, but with the 3.55 gear. and always much slower than highway traffic. so take that how you will

63 factory max wedge. Back half, 5.13s, cross ram. Tagged and driven on the street everywhere in the 70s and very early 80s, then mothballed until 2010. Back on the strip with it, retagged last year and is on the street again. Only drawback is the cost of c12.

That B-Body was nice.

Yes I mean big power/traction (700-800 horsepower) but designed to be reliable 'instead' of rubber band tires, handling (as good as it can be for an old car) and 300k thrown at something that will just never be a super car.

So essentially a street car, mini tubs in the back 15x12s in the rear and just plenty of power for stop light fun but cruise-able without any issues if you wanted to go down the country or whatever.

Now that MAXI is just dam beautiful !

1969 Charger I built for a customer....     relocated frame rails, tubbed, 345 series tire, 496ci big block, 727.....          Still utilized stock front suspension and leaf springs....

I saw several nice back halved cars running the power tour this year.

That looks nice.

You got any other pics of that car?

How tall do the 345 series tires sit? They don't look like 30+"
