hey guys its been a while since i been on here but i have a question for you. first off i was leaving a show today and the car in front of me signaled left to go on the highway and moved over to the center of the road as to turn onto the on ramp. so i went right to go around them. just as i got close to them they swerved directly infront of me as to pull over in the break down lane. so i locked up the brakes and opted to put the car into the high curb instead of hitting them in the rear.  so the cops came and got the info but thats about it. i had 3 kids in the car one was an 11mo baby. thankfully everyone is ok. the 10 and 11yo were a little shaken up as was my wife.

so my wheel is mashed up but the tire still held air so i drove it 3 miles home. it has to be horribly out of alignment at the least. if i let go of the wheel the car shot to the right and the tires squeel alot on any truns at all. i jacked it up to look for obvious damage.  i dont see anything broken or bent at first glance.  my car has power steering should i be able to turn the wheels left to right with the car in the air and the engine off with just my hands grabbing the tires?  it sounds a little clunky so i dunno about the steering box or any of that stuff as ive never messed with one.

any help or advise would be great thank you, Mike

i did the tape measure thing across the front on the front tires and rear of the front tires and i got a 1 1/8" difference  :o

You may have ruined a tie rod. Not hard to fix if so for either yourself or a shop. Best to have it all looked at.

i swapped over to the c body ty rod setup a few years ago so everythings a little beefier. it looks like the bushings on one ball joint, the pitman arm and one tie rod end are blown out. if it was just the ty rod or something id do it. but since it looks like i got a few things going on ill have a shop check out everything.  hopefully its not too bad a deal.

That sucks, glad to hear everyone's ok.

It sounds like it could have been a lot worse had you not steered for the curb. Good luck.

I'm glad you guys are okay.

Sorry for the damage but at least it seems to be limited to some suspension parts.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
