Nice looking project indeed, but that seems a bit much for a project??  We shall see.

Is the VIN on the dash tag supposed to match anything on the fender tag ?
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

VegasCharger

Strange, nowhere in the listing that the R/T is stated. Yet it is an R/T even though the grille lost it's R/T badge somewhere during it's life. But the XS on the vin confirms the R/T status.

Usually it's the other way around where it's an XP vin pawning off as an R/T.

Nice Charger but it's reached my price I'd pay. I'm sure that it will exceed the current $23,500 bid. Well it has to since the reserve isn't met yet.

Thanks TT  :cheers:

Not in 1968, you need the build sheet to marry the two together.

You beat me to the punch VegasCharger!

The good part is that the SO number on the data plate matches the number on the radiator yoke.

1968 Dodge Charger R/T - 440 Magnum, 727
1968 Dodge Charger - 318, 904
1985 Chrysler LeBaron Turbo Convertible, Mark Cross - 2.2L Turbo
1987 Buick Grand National - 3.8L SFI Turbo
2006 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 Coupe, Supercharged 3.2L
2006 Chrysler 300C SRT-8, 6.1L HEMI

The good part is that the SO number on the data plate matches the number on the radiator yoke.

And also on the trunk lip driver's side. There's also 3 characters prior to the 6 digit SO number.

I'll use my 68 Charger as an example.

The sales order(SO) number on mine is 063919.

But on the rad support(yoke) and the trunk lip it's B8X063919

B = Assembly Plant
8 = 1968
X = Charger (from the VIN code)
063919 = SO number

That car was for sale a while ago on fleabay. I remember it from the way the rear end was painted black. Perhaps this guy realized it was too much of a project and a bottomless pit of money was required to bring it back.

charger_fan_4ever

I have 10k in metal/metal work and im sure Close to another 10k in bodywork and materials to get back to a rust free R/t shell.

This car looks clean maybe a trunk floor and lower 1/4 work needed thats it. Id say worth 20k all day long.

Solid charger with matching drivetrain.....

At that price point and the unknowns/cost to finish this car correctly...it is a money pit...

It just depends on how bad one wants a 68 RT charger that matches........
