In my mind this seems to be a simple swap of shifters.
From the (71-74) bucket seat / non-console shifter (short stick, see attached) to the bench seat shifter which is about 5-6" longer.

The bench/bucket cars also had a different floor tunnel, which leads to different rods, etc...

Would all of this be necessary?   Isn't this as easy as replacing the shifters?
