Garage Door Color Opinions

Aging is never kind to us or our cars & garages.

The garage doors I installed back around 1997 are a bit tattered, especially the one on the left, it's delaminating. Door prices have almost tripled since then, so when looking online for new ones, I spotted a local contractor seller a pair of used doors. They are 16'x 8' doors with all the tracks, hardware & openers for a really good price. I may go look at them & take measurements to verify they will fit if I decide I can live with them.  :shruggy:

They have a commercial appearance being all glass with silver frames. The garage is more of a carriage house design, so I had a hunch they'd look out of place. I've been looking online at photos to see if anyone has incorporated a modern look on an older style but not much luck. The one thing I don't mind, is a darker frame on the door after I did a crude paint program edit in the attached photos. I thought it looked a lot better than the silver & got me wondering if I can change the color of the metal frame easily.

Has anyone painted aluminum with good results?

What do you guys think of the door?

Just wanted some other opinions before I take a ride to go look at them.

As the unwashed turban wearer alluded to... do a "protective wrap" on those aluminum doors. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I love the doors but agree they don't match the house.

About the painting, if it were to happen, there are dozens of paints designed for aluminum.  And lots of tips available online.

Color - I think you would want to go with a forest green, to maintain the rustic theme.

If nothing else, get the doors and then build a detached garage.

yes I think glass panels would look out of place , but more importantly  , easy for someone to smash it & gain entry etc  :scratchchin:

Never went to look & decided to pass on these doors for the same reasons most of you gave. They look out of place, not as secure & because of Murphy's Law, I know they will not install without a headache.

I will wait until later this year & just order the exact doors I want.  :2thumbs:
