I worked on installing the steering column back in the 68 today. A little wiggling cursing and help from a buddy and got the column to slide into spines of the gear box. I tried to put the pin back in the coupler, I got it about half way and it doesn't seem to want to go any further.  before I start grabbing a bigger hammer I took a pic . I want to make sure I have the coupler on far enough .

thanks

Just looking at it I want to say maybe it is on a little too far

that's what I was thinking . I was trying to find some reference pictures . but that seems to be easier said than done ! The search function on this site hasn't worked for me for about a year  :RantExplode:

Pull the pin back out and look in the hole. You will see if it is aligned or needs adjustment.

Agree- pull it back a bit and tap on that pin as you go

Got it in last night ! I pulled the pin out, moved it back about 1/4 and drove it home lol!  it still took a few good taps but it's in now !
